Cupping Massage

Workshop Description:

Cupping is a technique traditionally used in Eastern modalities (like acupuncture) to produce more effective circulation in areas of the body where there is pain and stiffness. The practitioner creates a vacuum in a cup and then places the cup on the skin of the client. The vacuum makes the cup stay in place on the skin and thereby improves local circulation. With new technology we as massage therapists have adapted this technique by using silicone cups and combining the suction with massage strokes. The end result is increased circulation, increased ROM and less pain. In short, an extra tool for the therapist, and relief for our clients. In this 2 day course we will learn how to use the cups in general, focus on some injuries, and do a facial cupping massage. Each participant will learn:

  • Indications and contra-indications
  • How to use and clean the cups
  • Flash cupping, Moving cupping, and Stationary Cupping techniques
  • How to work on chronic pain and injuries
  • Facial Cupping
